Dakshineswar Kali Temple

In the temple, Bhavatarani is worshipped as the “savior of the universe” and a manifestation of Goddess Kali. She built the temple after losing her husband and inheriting an enormous amount of money. The temple was the last thing she completed before departing for Varanasi, and she got the idea in a dream. 

Dakshineswar Kali is a revered Hindu navratna temple that is flanked by the River Hooghly on the Eastern bank and presided over by Bhavatarini, a form of Goddess Kali. The Bhavatarini form of Goddess Kali was constructed around the boundary walls of a complex in 1855 by Rani Rashmoni, who was a devotee of Goddess Kali.
